GPS Cell Phone - Pros And Cons

Posted by Videos Gone Viral Saturday, December 19, 2009 0 Comments

The GPS cell phone is a nifty little devise that allows you to track where a cell phone is. It comes in handy for people who need or want to know where someone is. This kind of technology has many advantages for people and companies who need to use them.

A cell phone that has GPS can already have it on the phone or it can be put on the cell phone afterwards. It doesn`t cost too much and can be purchased anywhere cell phones and electronics are sold. The GPS works by letting someone track you via a special website. A popular website for this kind of cell phone tracking is called Ulocate. The site allows you to see exactly where the cell phone is by its location on a map, it can also tell you how long it`s been there. The only drawback is that the cell phone has been turned on and not out of batteries for it to be tracked.

People using these websites to track cell phone GPS users could be employers wondering what their staffs are up to. Many companies have traveling workers who may be out and about all day. For employers to look and see that there employees are where they are supposed to be is a great consolation. It also works for people taking sick time and not being at home or the doctor`s office. Their boss can now track them down and if there at the beach it might be hard to explain.

This devise is popular for parents keeping track of their pre-teens and teenagers. While some may do it to spy on their kids and act like a pair of extra eyes where ever there kids are going, others use it as a safety measure, knowing that if their child is unreachable for a period of time that the parents can simply find their location and scoop them up. The GPS cell phone is also an excellent feature when you lose your phone, as you can just track it and retrieve it again. This might also be popular for people suspecting that their spouses are cheating. They can just go online to see if their spouse is really at the mall or movies or in the same town as they said they were.

With the availability of this new technology and the pros to having it, it can most certainly draw on some negative and positive feedback. For example; while the boss might be happy that they busted their employee for not being sick, the employee is now out of a job, and while the husband might be thrilled to know that their spouse was cheating, their partner may not be. And what if there are reasonable explanations for the person being somewhere, but when confronted by a spouse, parent or employer that they are truly hurt for being spied on. It seems like this product could be great and not so good at the same time. It most often has to be used appropriately and before accusations is given, that the entire facts are met before and acquisitions are thrown out.

The GPS cell phone is often given out by employers who want their business phones tracked, as well as Christmas presents for loved ones. This product would serve an excellent feature in the case of a traffic accident where the car is off the road. There family member could simply track them down and help them out.

How A Child GPS Tracker Works

Posted by Videos Gone Viral Thursday, December 3, 2009 0 Comments

The statistics of missing children in the United States is quite horrific, especially if you are a parent yourself. Even though there are many innocent reasons why kids go missing or are late home from school, it's the worst possible scenario that jumps into any parents mind first.

Thankfully there is now some clever technology know as a child GPS tracker that can put parents minds at rest in the majority of cases by locating their child within seconds. So how do these child GPS tracking systems work?

The devices are usually very small and can be attached to your child's clothing or placed in their backpacks. They work in a similar way to the common GPS systems found in cars and boats.

They listen to the GPS satellite signals and calculate the position of the child. If ever the parent becomes worried or wants to know exactly where their kid is, they can dial a special number on their phone and call the child's device through the cell phone network.

The child's device will immediately answer with the GPS coordinates which can then be displayed on a map on the parent's phone.

There are some other extra safety features that prevent other people tracking your child and also a system that will automatically call the parent if the child wanders away from a selected area.

The units also have a panic button that the child can press it ever they feel they are in danger or frightened. An SOS message with the child's location is then sent to the parent and often the parent can also listen in to what is going on.

Kids do go missing for all sorts of reasons, not all of them are malicious but it is impossible to tell until you find your child again. Having a Child GPS Tracker is a great advantage for parents and a great safety feature for children.

Customer Reviews on Amazon.com
This GPS gives intelligent routing and is very easy to use. I compared it in road tests with a Garmin 765T. I'm returning the Garmin.

I am not intending to try to disparage Garmin here. I'm hoping to let you know with what I am comparing this GPS when I say it is excellent. After all, only these two GPS'es comprise my hands-on experience with such units.

The benefit I want most from a GPS is accurate navigation assistance. Magellan delivers on this and the Garmin does not. That's about it and that's my main point. The Magellan excelled at keeping me on the best roads and getting me to my destinations with minimal stress and frustration. The Garmin 765T often told me to turn one way while the arrow pointed the other way and seems to prefer looping FAR around cities regardless of the chosen routing options and traffic conditions. The Garmin even took me off interstates for no reason and then put me back on the same road 20 miles later to continue the trip.

Garmin support told me to set "via" points to stop this problem but I prefer to just send it back and stick with the 4700 that requires less fiddling.

I bought this to use in our other vehicles as I already have a guidance system in my pickup. I researched these things very hard before I bought my Magellan and I'm VERY happy with the 4700. In fact, I like it much better than the one that came in my 2008 Silverado. I have used them at the same time, just to compare and the Magellan wins hands down. Voice is loud and clear. The only con I have found is that the voice does get muffled when it gives a long, detailed instuctions. Actually, it's kind of funny at times. I do like the lane instructions and the overhead signs. The display is crisp and clear and I really like how the map changes as I change directions vs. the one in my pickup that makes me feel like I'm driving backwards at times. Addresses are easy to enter or find. POIs are very easy to find. Love it and highly recommend it.
